A temporary dispensation has been applied to the assessment plan version ST0417/V1.1 for this apprenticeship. The dispensation will run indefinitely until all apprentices registered to ST0417/V1.1 only, are complete. The dispensation may be withdrawn if no longer necessary. End-point assessment organisations (EPAOs) delivering EPAs for the apprenticeship will implement the dispensation as required, supported, and monitored by the relevant EQA provider.
The key changes are: Allow assessment methods to be carried out in any order. Allow the project: technical report and presentation with questioning and professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence to be assessed and graded by one independent assessor. Remove the requirement for independent assessors to be active, trained and recognised professional reviewers (IEng and above) through a licensed Professional Engineering Institution. Allow overall EPA grading to be carried out by one independent assessor.
Note: This apprenticeship continues to align with the requirements for Incorporated Engineer (IEng). Apprentices will remain eligible to apply for IEng professional review, via an Engineering Council licenced Professional Engineering Institution, on achievement of this degree apprenticeship.
Rigorous robust and independent assessment undertaken by an apprentice at the end of training to test that the apprentice can perform in the occupation they have been trained in and can demonstrate the duties, and knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) set out in the occupational standard

Change request policy
Most changes to an apprenticeship are made as a result of a holistic review of it. We prioritise the need for such reviews based on a range of factors. These include:
the time since the apprenticeship was developed or last reviewed (taking account of its typical duration)
the existence of any known problems with it (e.g. lower than expected starts, low achievement rate, high withdrawal rate, any issues with the availability of training or end-point assessment provision)
whether the apprenticeship is currently subject to a dispensation
the relative significance of the apprenticeship based on how many users it has
The availability of an employer group to support a review and its potential impact on any related technical education product also inform the timing of a review.
Details of apprenticeships that are currently being revised or adjusted are available in our revisions and adjustments status report.
